Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
This legislation provides guidelines for ensuring ALL members of our society have
opportunities to live, not just exist, in our country. The ADA is a very important key to
open those doors of opportunity. It applies to business, government and educational
institutions as well as public accomodations, such as shopping malls and even recreational
sites.
Employment Rights & Responsibilities
More and more people with disabilities are finding employment that utilizes their
abilities rather than focus on their DISabilities.
General Access Issues
Using all the public accomodations is something most people take for granted. If you
have mobility impairments, steps, stools, or even doorways or hallways can keep you out.
Federal laws have designated codes and construction guidelines to ensure mobility impaired
persons can get into the same places as non-impaired persons. Certain reasonableness
standards allow variances, but what is reasonable?
Disabled Veterans
Veterans have specific federal and state laws that affect their programs. |
